This customer service number exists primarily to assist existing TracFone Wireless customers. When calling, having your TracFone number, your phone’s serial or SIM number, or an existing ticket number handy is helpful. Callers are prompted to enter one of these numbers before being connected to a customer service representative.

I called this number to learn more about the phone service plans available at TracFone Wireless. I was greeted with an automated message providing a menu of well-delineated options. Among the choices were activating phone service, changing a phone number, and receiving technical support. The menu also had a catch-all option for general customer support.

I chose the latter option and, at this point, was prompted to enter my TracFone number or one of the other pieces of identifying information mentioned above. Since I didn’t have any of these numbers, I was instructed to continue to hold for the next customer service representative.

Once connected to a representative, I asked some basic questions about which TracFone plan might be best for me. The representative was amiable but quickly directed me back to the TracFone website for additional information. He indicated that TracFone had more than 20 available prepaid cellphone plans and that the best way to compare those plans was to review the details on the company’s website.

After calling this TracFone support number, it’s clear that the primary intent is to provide customer service to existing customers. All of the automated menu options are geared toward those who already have plans with TracFone (or who wish to restart service with the company). Prospective customers might be better served by researching phone plan options on the TracFone website, as you’ll likely be referred there by the customer service reps anyway.   

It’s also useful to be aware that TracFone representatives are available every day from 8 am to 11:45 pm ET. When I called outside of these hours, I was connected to an automated message instructing me to call back during business hours.

The recorded messages on this number also provide useful information about additional ways to get answers to common customer questions or concerns. The system provides straightforward instructions about how to get help via text message, the TracFone My Account app or the company’s website.
