You may also still go to Hotmail.com and be redirected to Microsoft's login page, which is live.com.
You will see the Forgotten Your Password text. Click on that to start the reset password process.
Microsoft must verify your identity to ensure the Hotmail account is yours. This is where your recovery email address or phone number would come in. Microsoft will send or email you a verification code to reset your password.
Select the recovery email address or phone number on this page and tap Next. If you can no longer access the recovery email or phone number, tap Show More Verification Methods to know how else you can verify your account with Hotmail. Just follow the on-screen instructions to get the verification code.
Retype your email address or phone number (whichever is selected) and tap Get Code. Next, log in to your recovery email or check your phone for the code. Once you have the code, please enter it in the Code field to reset your password.
To prevent unauthorized access to your Hotmail account, ensure the password is strong by incorporating lowercase and uppercase letters, symbols, and numbers. Also, ensure the password doesn't contain a complete word or company name.
Microsoft also allows its users to sign in to their accounts in many ways, including using the Microsoft Authenticator app and a passkey. You may also add the contact numbers of family members who can access your email address or phone. Do note that VOIP numbers cannot receive verification codes.

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
