I have been an American Express customer for many years and have an excellent payment record. I generally pay my bills via online banking with Bank of America. My last statement requested payment by June **, ****. The payment was supposed to be delivered from the bank by that date. However, when I checked my bank account on June **, I observed that the payment had not been sent out. I did not ask the bank to send a check but instead had American Express directly and promptly debit my bank account.**In view of my long history of faithful payments, I regret that you found the need to charge me a late fee and put a black mark on my account for being a few hours late with my payment. Because I corrected the problem immediately and the payment was only a few hours late, I don't believe that I should be charged a late fee, especially one that totals **% of the balance paid. I feel that the late charge should be reversed and removed from my record.
