Get prescriptions for a chronic seizure disorder approved and refilled ... I have been denied numerous times for prescriptions for a chronic seizure disorder condition. My doctor and neurologist have been fighting and appealing for months on my behalf to have my insurance (CVS Caremark - which is "supposed" to be included in my health insurance plan through my work). Because of the months of fighting, I ran out of medicine and ended up totaling my car * days after I ran out. While I was in the hospital my one medication was changed to one that was supposed to be covered, and it was also denied. This is * seizure meds that have been denied now, and for absolutely no reason. And given the fact that I do pay for my health insurance through work, and prescriptions are supposed to be covered through that health plan, there is absolutely NO reason why any of these medications should be denied. I only want the service that I am being charged for and to make sure that my medications are covered. I do not want this to happen to anybody else or for anybody else to get hurt because they (CVS Caremark) are not living up to their commitment to state health benefits (which is what I have). Not only could I have died in that accident, had there been any oncoming cars, someone in them could have ended up hurt or dead as well. *When I have access to my medications and I am able to take them as prescribed, my seizures are very well controlled and extremely stable and I was having no problems, which is documented by my neurologist and my pcp.
Every medication I have been prescribed has been denied, and appeals weren't helping. I ran out of medication in the meantime and wrecked*totaled my car, spent days in the hospital, had to take a couple of weeks off of work, have had my drivers license revoked for * months
I want to be able to get any medications that I am prescribed, approved and paid for. I pay for my insurance and the prescription coverage. I should be able to have my medications covered, especially for a chronic condition that it is proven that the medication works.
I have had my state insurance benefits for * years now, which includes prescription coverage. I pay for it out of every paycheck. Myself and my doctor have had to fight for months at a time to have prescriptions approved...when we were able to go to the external review appeal method and have them approved that way.
My doctor has tried everything they can think of to try to make sure that I was able to get my meds, I have contacted SEAP, but they do not help with 'medical issues' in regards to legal help.
