Get a refund ... On January **, **** I attempted to book two tickets to Shanghai. I did not receive a confirmation or itinerary therefore I searched your site for my booking using my phone number and the last four digits of my credit card. The message came back from Kayak saying "Your booking has failed". At that point I confirmed with my credit card company that nothing was charged and at the time of the phone call there were no pending payments to you. With that information in hand I went over to Expedia and booked my flight* same day, same plane. I received my confirmation from them. However, on Friday, January **, ****, I received my credit card bill and the charges from you were on it. Next month's credit card statement will have the charges from Expedia! I need you to reverse the charges immediately based on the notice from you that the booking failed. I also was made to pay a higher price than what you offered therefore for this error on your part and for the inconvenience on my part I also want the difference mailed to me by cheque. The difference was an extra $**.** that I should not have incurred.*I need to know how you will be getting this fixed. And I need you to contact me ASAP.*I want a refund of my two flights and the cancellation insurance I purchased. Total charged was $****.** ($**.** of which was the cancellation insurance).*Please respond with a sense of urgency.*Thank you,*Karry
This was especially frustrating because once I was notified that the booking failed I then went ahead and booked with Expedia. Now I have two seats for me and two seats for my travelling companion on the same flight! I am being charged for the "failed" booking and for the actual booking I made once I was told Kayak's booking failed.
I want this original charge refunded including the amount I paid for cancellation insurance and the extra I had to pay going through Expedia.
I'm a new customer but once I book and provide my credit card number I expect confirmation with an itinerary and flight number. This did not happen therefore it isn't too much to expect not to be charged!!
I tried calling Kayak's toll free number, one is not in service and one is not open on a Saturday.
