My husband and I have been banking with Regions for about * years and we are in good standing. That being said we deposited a check on ********** in the amount of $****. Yesterday we received a letter from the bank that seems to be a form letter and is unsigned stating that Regions bank is holding these funds due to " confidential information that the check won't clear" This check came from my husband's work and is part of our income. Every week we receive moneys from that bank deposited to our bank without question or problems, yet this larger amount is a problem for Regions. *Last year we received the SAME EXACT form letter from Regions and again unsigned stating the SAME EXACT reasoning for a deposit made from an Estate inheritance. *In both cases it turns out the funds have well cleared, and were available however both instances Regions Bank decided to withhold the funds from our account days and last time even weeks after depositing and clearance of the funds! *I understand holding funds until the check clears but holding the funds longer as standard practice seems to me counter productive to Regions unless your standard practice is to play with our money in day trading or hedgefund ponzy schemes to which I have neither agreed to nor receive interests on! *I have contacted the accountant at my husband's work and informed her of your letter. She assured me the funds have cleared and it is Regions Bank that has the funds! *I have also contacted other banks and was assured they do not send letters like this to their costumers as standard practice. I am now looking to migrate my business elsewhere as this form letter unsigned is the second one we have received after depositing a larger amount into our checking account. This standard practice to withhold cleared funds from our account is unacceptable to us and we cannot tolerate it. We're not talking about a check from some obscure Nigerian prince out of some Middle Eastern Bank or even India! This check was drawn from an American bank from an American company in Mayfield Kentucky! And it came from the same place my husband's paychecks get deposited from every week for over * years now!! *I will call the bank and I am asking my Congressman to launch an investigation into Regions Bank.
