United Healthcare operates the call center for this 866-633-2446 phone number 24 hours, 7 days.  The short answer is that you should call on a Wednesday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 2,838 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this United Healthcare phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like United Healthcare staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The best time to call

In summation, the best day to call United Healthcare is Wednesday.  It isn't the least busy day, but the fact that hold times are shortest combined with it being on the busy side tells us that United Healthcare staffs up on Wednesday to handle the higher call volume, and that makes it the best time to call.

Calling this United Healthcare Customer Number

2025-05-19T00:00:00.000Z

Calling this number is more for people who have already secured services with United Healthcare, as this number leads you to the customer help line for United Healthcare. When I called, I was asked first if I wanted English or Spanish. I was then asked for the reason I was calling and said that I wanted to get a quote. Finally, I was asked if I was a provider and said no.

The system took me to the hold menu, where I waited for about three minutes before I was connected with a representative. She asked me for my United Healthcare customer ID number, and I said that I didn't have one available. She then asked me why I was calling, and I said that I was interested in getting a quote.

She said that she couldn't provide that for me, but she could take me to the sales team. She then offered to have the sales team give me a call but I said that wouldn't be necessary. She then put me back on hold and began the transfer. As this was going to a different number, I decided to wait to see how long the hold time was before hanging up. The hold time was about 2 1/2 minutes, although the person there didn't give any indication as to having reached the sales department before I hung up.

Overall, I'd use this number if I was a United Healthcare customer, but I wouldn't bother otherwise. You can get to the department through this number, but it's faster to use 1-855-229-6848 if your goal is to get a quote. If you're already a customer, the speed of getting to someone makes this number effective, but it's not worth using if you don't have a customer ID.
