I am a 73-year-old female senior who unfortunately became homeless after selling our home in Orillia for $[redacted],[redacted], considerably less than its market value of $[redacted],[redacted]. My husband of 34 years left me to stay with his son rent-free, leaving me with a portion of the sale proceeds. I faced financial struggles in Toronto, where I spent my share on accommodation, food, and necessities, only to have my purse stolen with my pension money. Despite having my belongings put in storage after being wrongly evicted from a shelter, I ended up in distress and with high blood pressure. After a kind stranger helped me and took me to the hospital, I found myself in need of further assistance as I struggled to secure a place to sleep and faced health concerns.
